by Margaret Weinstein
From its inception, Malvern Arts has held space for visual artists – dedicated space for the display of drawings, paintings, textiles, photography, three-dimensional objects; space for artists to teach and learn from each other; space to gather and speak on the work and to create new work. The onset of COVID-19 and the need for social distancing has affected how this vision can manifest. Gathering isn’t happening right now, but we are still able to provide exhibition space on our website. While looking at an image on a computer or phone screen is not the same as coming face to face with the object itself, it is still a way for artists to share their work. And I believe an important way.
We have already created pages for each of the artists whose work was included in our inaugural exhibition, Meg Fruchter (quilts), Isabel Leininger (miniatures), Sarah Bones (photography) and Margaret Sidlick (paintings). Since that time, other artists have generously shared some of their work for us to post on our FaceBook page. Those images appear below. All this work has been contributed by artists we have come to know since opening our doors in October 2019. But we know there are many more of you out there.
From the Virtual Gallery:
After spending a little time on this site, you can get a feel for Malvern Arts and the scope of our vision. If what we are appeals to you, I would like to invite you to consider submitting images of your own work and to encourage other artists to do the same. Please note that this is not a commercial venture, so no prices will be posted with any of the pictures.
