My name is Dimple. I am a self-taught artist. Drawing is my passion, and it helps me to unwind. I am interested in different drawing and painting styles.
These paintings follow the Madhubani tradition. Madhubani literally translates into “Forest of Honey.” It is an age-old rural art form practiced in Bihar, India. Madhubani art is based on the philosophical principle of dualism; that opposites run parallel to each other: life and death, day and night, joy and sorrow, body, and soul, etc.
Madhubani paintings are characterized by two-dimensional imagery, eye-catching geometrical patterns, and very bright colors. The paintings reflect aesthetic tastes, religious leanings, love for Nature, affection for the feminine beauty, divinity, and the panoramic view of the day-to-day life of the people. Hence, natural objects like the sun, the moon, flowers, animals & birds play an important part in these paintings.
The paintings featured here have been hand-painted on paper and then decoupaged on wood panel/boards. I have used mainly ink and some acrylics in my paintings .
